We are sad to farewell Co-Chief Editor David Goyes, whose contribution to the International Journal for Crime, Justice and Social Democracy has been both substantial and deeply valued. David joined the Editorial Team in 2019 and served as Co-Chief Editor from 2023.

During his time with the Journal, David played a leading role in advancing its commitment to critical, globally inclusive scholarship. In 2023, he established the Rosa del Olmo Prize, awarded biennially to the article or articles that make the most significant contribution to innovative criminological thinking beyond Western scripts. He also led the Journal's Green Criminological Dialogues special issue series, bringing together perspectives from Oceania, Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe between 2019 and 2026.

Outside of the Journal, David is a Research Professor at the University of Oslo and an internationally recognised scholar in critical and southern criminology. His research on environmental harm, Indigenous justice and Latin America has earned international recognition, including the American Society of Criminology's 2024 Critical Criminologist of the Year Award. We have been enormously fortunate to have David as part of the editorial team. Beyond his scholarly expertise, he has brought generosity, collegiality and a commitment to supporting authors, reviewers and fellow editors.

The work of a Diamond open access journal is sustained almost entirely through the goodwill, dedication and collaborative efforts of a scholarly community. Maintaining rigorous peer review, finding reviewers, supporting authors and producing high-quality scholarship without charging authors or readers requires considerable commitment from everyone involved. David embraced these challenges with enthusiasm and professionalism, helping to ensure that the Journal continued to thrive while remaining true to its values of openness, accessibility and social justice.
